Dr. Annie Emmick
Dr. Annie Emmick has enjoyed caring for children at New Beginnings Pediatrics since 2005, when she relocated to the Fox Valley with her young family.
Prior to that she served as Assistant Professor or Pediatrics at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, where she taught medical students and Pediatric residents. There she founded and directed the Acute Care Rotation for the Pediatric Residency Training Program, founded Journal Club for the Division of General Pediatrics, and was a Certified Instructor for Pediatric and Neonatal Advanced Life Support. She supervised students and residents in the ER, hospital ward, and clinics.
Dr. Emmick graduated with Honors in Pediatrics from the University Of Chicago Pritzker School Of Medicine, and received the Award for Outstanding Performance in Pediatrics in her class. She completed her residency at the University of Chicago Children’s Hospital in 1997 and is Board-Certified in Pediatrics.
After completing her undergraduate degree in Neurobiology at Oberlin College, Dr. Emmick worked at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard University in a lab that was pivotal in the development of the childhood vaccines Heamophilus influenza type b (Hib) and pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV), which are in use today and have contributed greatly to pediatric public health.
She loves to teach and speaks frequently in the community on various Pediatric health topics, including infant development, immunizations, and influenza. As a mom of four, she thrives on supporting new moms and has a strong interest in facilitating breastfeeding. Other clinical interests include asthma, allergy, nutrition, behavior, and acute illness.
Dr. Emmick loves getting to know the kids and their families in the office, sharing stories and laughs throughout the day. Her free time is spent at the pool with her kids, gardening, and volunteering at her children’s schools. She loves to run and recently completed the Chicago Marathon on behalf of the pediatric charity Ronald McDonald House.
